Why Is the Hub Needed?
If you’re a childminder, then you'll already know the answer to this question!
Childminders cherish the independence of running their own businesses, while also valuing access to trustworthy information, dedicated support, and genuine connection.
Their priority is caring for mindees, supporting parents, and being present for their own families - without having the frustration of endless searching or unnecessary hurdles.
Although many excellent organisations provide vital services such as insurance and training, there remains a clear gap when it comes to everyday guidance for the countless questions that arise in the course of childminding...
-
Which are the best non leak water bottles?

-
What's the best way to work out a funding calculation when a child does stretched care with additional hours and term time only at another setting?

-
Which double buggy can fit in specific seven seater cars when all the seats are in use?

-
My mindee loves playing with vehicles, how can I extend this further to incorporate maths to help them develop number sense, whilst also supporting fine motor movement as I've noticed they are finding it tricky to grasp small things?

-
What's the safest way to walk with everyone on the school run?

-
What are some good, healthy recipes for hot lunches that don't include the allergens egg and milk?

What are the latest EYFS/government/funding changes?
If you know, you know!
Childminding can be lonely at times and childminders need a welcoming community where they can seek reliable answers to all their questions, share their own knowledge and advice, and make connections with likeminded people!
The answer is the Friendly Childminders' Hub!

Childminders Have
Relied on Social
Media for Too Long!
For years, childminders have carved out spaces for themselves on social media, such as Facebook groups, in order to find the answers to their day to day questions and to seek connection with other people who get it. Whilst these spaces have been professional life lines for many, they are fraught with problems and childminders deserve a proper, dedicated space!
Helpful posts aren't seen, the same questions are asked repeatedly & there’s no way of organising the newsfeed into a more effective system! It’s hard to fully check who people are, most of the younger childminders starting out don’t even use Facebook, and Instagram just doesn’t have the same capability to create an interactive group.
The Hub has actually been created because of the Facebook group, Friendly Childminders, hence the continuation of the name and you can find out more about that here. The group, along with others, has been a great help to many, but it is always in a precarious position due to the 'nature of social media' and a whole community could be lost overnight, at any time!
Childminders should not have to 'live in the cracks' when it comes to the day to day to running of their businesses! The Hub is a safe space to ask both the daft and serious questions. It reaches well beyond the limitations of social media, to provide the information, support and connection that childminders need, so they can spend more time focussed on providing nurturing educations for their mindees, supporting their mindees' parents and being there for their own families.

Childminders
Deserve Better!
Childminders are often seen as the underdog of the childcare sector, but they are in fact the childcare champions!
They open their homes and hearts to those that that need them and the lines between their work and family lives are often blurred, making it hard to switch off!
They 'wear many hats' in their daily lives and each one is worn with pride, determination, enthusiasm and love! For more information about this, please have a nosey here.
Childminders deserve a dedicated, safe and friendly space to compliment the large organisations that meet their insurance, legal advice and training needs.
They deserve the Friendly Childminders' Hub where they can seek reliable information, strong support and genuine connection amongst others who also understand the world of childminding and what that looks like on a day to day basis.
