Members' Promises

membership long (1080 x 1920 px).png

To join the Friendly Childminders’ Hub, applicants must answer a set of carefully designed questions to confirm their authenticity and agree to uphold all ten Membership Promises. These promises are the foundation of our trusted and supportive community.

The founder holds ultimate responsibility for all content within the Hub, including that shared by members.  As such, the vetting process is taken seriously, and high standards are expected of every member.

In the rare event that a Membership Promise is broken, the founder will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.  Depending on the nature of the breach, the member(s) involved may receive a warning, have their subscription suspended, or face permanent removal from the Hub.

Please scroll down for the Friendly Childminders’ Hub’s Member Promises:

1. No Photos of
Children

To protect the privacy and safety of all children and young people, no photos of anyone under the age of 18 are allowed within the Hub - this includes childminded children, members own children, or any others.

Full or partial images showing faces or bodies are not permitted.  Members may include hands or feet in a photo if it helps illustrate an activity, setup, or invitation to play - but nothing more.

2. Do Not Identify
Inspectors

Members must not name regulatory inspectors or describe them in ways that could lead to identification.

General discussion about inspections and experiences are welcome, but all conversations must stay respectful and within professional boundaries.

3. Communicate
with Kindness

Members are expected to use clear and respectful language that avoids swearing, slang, excessive abbreviations, or any wording that could be considered offensive, exclusionary, or inappropriate.

Differences of opinions are welcome, but should always be discussed with respect and tact - personal attacks, sarcasm, or passive-aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. â€‹â€‹

Members are asked to think before they type and to be mindful that their intended tone may not always be received by the reader.

4. Respect and
Celebrate Diversity

The Hub welcomes members  from all backgrounds, identities, and educational approaches.

Diversity is a strength, and every member’s perspective adds value to the Hub’s shared support, information and connection.

Discrimination of any kind - including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, ableism, or cultural and religious bias - is never acceptable and will not be tolerated. We ask all members to engage with kindness, respect, and openness so that everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

5. No Self-Promotion
or Advertising

Links to external sites for great resources and equipment are welcome but self-promotion, product advertising, or affiliate links posted by members are not permitted.

Many childminders have amazing side businesses, but to keep the Hub focused and free from unsolicited promotion, secondary businesses may not be advertised or promoted, either overtly or covertly.

If a member’s business aligns with the Hub’s values, it may be considered for inclusion in the Brilliant Businesses Space and they should have a nosey at Considered Collaborations before 'getting in touch with the founder'.

6. Respect
Confidentiality

Members should not disclose information about any another person that may identify them.

If seeking advice to help  another person or family, the member may include enough detail to seek support for them whilst protecting their anonymity.

7. Maintain Integrity

Sadly,  not every experience with a businesses, agency, organisation or service may be positive. However, the Hub is not the place for naming and shaming.

Criticising or accusing individuals or organisations in a way that could be considered defamatory or libellous is strictly prohibited within the Hub.

Members are welcome to share difficult experiences in general terms to seek support or advice, without naming names or making harmful claims.

If a member becomes aware of a concerning organisation or service operating within the childminding community, they are encouraged to report it privately to the founder. This allows for appropriate follow-up and, if necessary, further investigation or action.

8. Share with Care

The Hub is a place for connection, and sometimes that leads to real-life friendships or meetups.

If a member decides to share personal details, they must do so with care and only when they feel comfortable.

What members share about themselves is entirely up to them, but everyone is encouraged to protect their privacy and use good judgment when connecting beyond the Hub.

9. Content Sharing Boundaries

The Hub is built on trust, mutual support, and the sharing of knowledge that helps childminders in both their professional and personal lives. It’s natural that members may want to take away useful ideas or inspiration, which makes it all the more important to have clear boundaries around what can and cannot be shared outside the Hub.

  • Screenshots may only be taken for personal reference—such as an activity or recipe a member wishes to use in their own setting—but must not be shared with others. All other screenshots are not permitted.

  • Documents shared by the founder may be used outside the Hub for personal reference only. They must not be circulated or redistributed.

  • Documents shared by members may be used outside the Hub only if the member confirms they are the original author and explicitly grants permission.

Outside of these exceptions, sharing posts, screenshots, or any other content beyond the Hub - whether in private messages, on social media, or elsewhere - is not permitted. Doing so may breach UK laws relating to data protection, copyright, and confidentiality, and the founder reserves the right to take legal action if necessary.

10. Author
Authenticity

Sharing knowledge and experience is central to the Hub, and members are warmly encouraged to contribute original content across all Collections. However, clear boundaries must be respected.

If a member shares content they did not create - such as text, images, or resources - they must credit the original author, photographer, or creator where known.  If the creator is genuinely unknown, this should be clearly stated (e.g., “creator unknown”).

Members are fully responsible for the content they post and must ensure it does not breach UK laws, including those relating to copyright, data protection, and confidentiality.  This includes avoiding the sharing of personal data without consent and ensuring that any third-party content is used lawfully and with proper attribution.
