Life Work Balance

Striking the Balance
Being a childminder is an amazing but mammoth profession - caring for and educating the children, supporting their families, running the business side of things, meeting the needs of their own families and managing busy homes!
There are a lot of plates to spin all the time and it’s easy for work and personal life to blur together, but finding time for themselves is something childminders need and deserve!
Whether it’s a quiet cuppa, a walk outdoors, or something that sparks joy, those small moments help recharge the batteries. Self-care isn’t selfish - it’s essential.
To gain an understanding of what childminders can encounter, please have a nosey at Childminders Wear All the Hats!
The entire Life Work Balance is dedicated to helping with this - with 12 individual Spaces that cover a range of interests and ways to help manage busy lives!

Book Club
The Hub features a Book Club - a space just for reading for pleasure and connecting with others about favourite and recommended reads. The founder hopes to do a lot with this space if members are interested, but there's one rule -work related books are not permitted here!
Members can can find work related books in the Professional Development Collection under Self Directed Learning.
Members are encouraged to share favourite reads, thoughts, ideas and ask for recommendations. All opinions are welcome - kindness and respect are key - but no spoilers!

Hobbies and Interests
The Life Work Balance Collection has a Space that's just for childminders to share hobbies and interests. It’s open-ended for now, but if a particular passion proves popular, the founder will create a dedicated Space.
Childminders are invited to share what they enjoy in their spare time - and to ask others about their interests too. It’s all about connecting beyond the job.

Men Who Mind
This Space is dedicated to male childminders - a group that’s still far too rare in early years education.
Their presence brings balance, diversity, and valuable role modelling to young children, helping to challenge outdated stereotypes and broaden perspectives from the very start.
This Space offers a place for male childminders to connect, share experiences, and support one another.
Unlike other areas in this Life Work Balance Collection, this Space welcomes both personal and professional conversation. Whether it’s an introduction, a question, or something they need to get off their chest - it’s good to talk.

Wellbeing
Childminding is a demanding role—caring for little ones, keeping things running smoothly, and often doing it all from home while managing family life.
With so much to juggle, it’s easy for personal wellbeing to slip down the list. So this space is dedicated to supporting childminders' with looking after themselves - whatever that looks like.
It maybe moments of calm, fresh air, movement, or joy can make a real difference. Whether it’s yoga, sound baths, reiki, retreats, or simply a quiet cuppa, these small acts help childminders recharge and stay balanced.
